The Limmat runs through Zurich’s Aldstadt — the Old City where many of the famous landmarks are. I took this standing on the Rathausbrücke (apparently rat means ‘council’ — dislike for politicians is everywhere), facing down towards the Zürichsee (I love the German names for things in Switzerland). On either side , you can see the great cathedrals Grossmünster and Fraumünster.
I took this photo at the end of a long, hot summer’s day. I was so unused to the daylight that I hadn’t realised that it was almost 10 pm and I hadn’t eaten since lunch! It was hot and humid, even by Sydney standards, and I had been traipsing about Zurich for hours on foot. I don’t recall what I ended up eating, but I did stumble back to my hotel exhausted.
